How does a Glasgow garage conversion work?
It all starts with a call to Garage Conversion Glasgow on 0141 280 4334 and we will discuss briefly what kind of conversion you are looking for and arrange a home visit by one of our surveyors at a day and time convenient for you so that we can have a detailed discussion with you as to what exactly you require, answer any questions you have and offer as much help as possible before we survey your existing garage. We are based in Glasgow but cover the whole of Scotland. We are construction industry professionals and believe that the quality of our work speaks for itself – unlike some conservatory and double-glazing companies we have absolutely no interest in “hard sell” tactics.
You then need architect to draw up the final, detailed plans for submission to the local authority – you can either hire your own or we can provide an introduction to an architect capable of drawing up garage conversion plans for you. The architect can submit the plans for a building warrant (approval of design and permission to build) to your local authority (a fee is payable) which is a legal requirement before a garage conversion in Scotland can proceed.
We will use this use a copy of these drawings to prepare a detailed written quotation for the work you have requested based solely on the architect’s design. Upon completion we will despatch it to you as quickly as we can and upon receipt you can call our surveyor if you have any questions or areas you would like to discuss or clarify in relation to it. We are always happy to discuss any aspect of our estimates prior to our contract being signed and work commencing.
Once you are satisfied with our quote, all we request is that you sign a contract for the works and value agreed and place a small deposit. We will help you submit the necessary arrange a site survey and agree a mutually-convenient start proposed start date, schedule the work into our calendar, order materials, arrange plant and skip hire. We will commence work on the agreed date with the conversion taking between two and five weeks (depending on the specific nature of the conversion and the amount of work involved). Please be advised, however, that we cannot begin any building works whatsoever until the necessary building warrant has been obtained from the relevant local authority (as it is a criminal offence to begin work without one).
Upon completion, one of our managers will inspect the conversion to ensure that it meets our standards and there are no items outstanding, then he/she will walk through the conversion with the customer to ensure that you are 100{1edbedc8484fc05bc21df75951593c744a0611ad48c80023ff405b9bbc5b6091} happy. A completion certificate is sent to the local authority and a council building standards inspector will come out and check over the new room and that all has been built to the approved design. We will be available to resolve any issues as quickly as possible but we strive at all times to ensure that we get it right first time every time.

Your garage isn't really a garage...
At Garage Conversions Glasgow we have found that many household garages are not actually used as the home for the family saloon or 4WD, but rather as a storeroom for broken furniture, old tyres, unused children’s toys and things that “might” get used again one day (but never do!). Does that sound like your garage?
Garage Conversion Glasgow has found that when our customers go through what is lurking in their garage it is pretty much all junk that they no longer need and can be disposed of, indeed they often wish they’d converted their garage to something much more useful years ago so don’t delay, call us today on 0141 280 4334, we cover the whole of Scotland.
Converting a garage creates more living space
Over the years cars have got ever wider whilst (single) garages have remained the same width, making it impossible to open the doors of your car in it nowadays, but while the car has outgrown your garage, a typical single garage is still around 150 sq ft. which offers the possibility of creating a significant amount of extra living space for you to add to your home. A double (or larger) garage can offer even more possibilities.
A garage conversion is cost-effective
The beauty of a garage conversion is that it’s more cost-effective than a traditional extension (or a loft conversion) as the foundations, walls and floor are already there and (in the majority of cases) planning permission is not required. It is a relatively inexpensive way of adding space to your home and allowing you to avoid the huge expense and inconvenience of moving house to get the additional room that you need.
